The Fashion Kapitol is a fashion and lifestyle centre that prides itself in promoting and endorsing products and services that of African origin. It is a fashion and lifestyle centre that aims to fuse the African culture with our modern way of living as to clearly depict what it means to be African- and globally relevant- in the 21st Century. We have a very young, vibrant and fresh culture. And it is through that culture that we are able to be innovative in everything we do, especially in the manner that we communicate the Fashion Kapitol brand (and its offerings) to the public.
The ultimate goal of the Fashion Kapitol is to take its place alongside international capitals such as New York’s Fashion Avenue- i.e. to be a global citizen with a local flair. We however realise acknowledge the contribution we have to make first locally in order to achieve that goal. We therefore aim to (amongst other things) be a space for product launches, for artists and their exhibition space, poetry readings, training and meetings. We also aim to be a place of both convenience and relevance for those who reside and work within and around the Johannesburg area.
As both the heart and the financial hub of the Fashion District, we aim to act as a platform that provides local entrepreneurs with the opportunity and tools which will enable them to develop and grow their businesses. However, we also recognise our role as a responsible citizen within our greater community. And we have ensured that the role forms an integral part in both our operating and long-term strategies. In achieving the above mentioned, the Fashion Kapitol will once again confirm Johannesburg’s reputation as an incubator of creativity. And as a result, the Fashion Kapitol will be a centre in which all Africans can both identify with and take pride in- while the rest of the world relates to.
The Fashion Kapitol target markets are:
(1) Fashion-conscious suburban shoppers;
(2) downtown shoppers who work in the Johannesburg CBD; and
(3) Tourists who want to experience the true African flair, fused with a modern way of living.
